BABE, Have a Little...
2019 has already proven to be a faith-changing year for me. In the last two weeks, I have seen growth, forgiveness, and a renewed spirit-filled lifestyle—something I haven’t seen in a while. It’s like I’m beginning to understand all over again just how crucial it is to be in God’s Word daily. When I’m consistent, it produces a mature, strong, and faithful relationship with Jesus. These are all truths I have known yet lost sight of. But the beautiful thing is, His Word, the Bible, is truly ALIVE and a sharp weapon (Hebrews 4:12). It can undo every year of complacency, laziness, and pride in an instant.
Spending intential time reading, writing, praying, and meditating on a verse or verses in the Bible daily has become a means of fending off anxiety, piercing through depression, and softening my heart to forgive (something I will be sharing about soon). I am incredibly thankful for these tools below. They are this babe’s armor during everything and anything life tosses our way.
If you want to see what I am reading and using, head over to my previous blog on reading the Bible 101 HERE.
Last week was my first week in The Happy Planner’s®️ Faith Warrior planner. Honestly, for as excited as I was to jump into this babe, I had no clue where to start. So...I took a deep breath and opened it up to January’s monthly view.
I knew I wanted to challenge myself to read and meditate on a specific scripture each day, so I grabbed my most recent devotional (SAVOR by Shauna Niequist) and I filled out each day with the same scriptures from the book. THIS WAS A START.
And if you are anything like me, sometimes all of this “planner stuff” can seem overwhelming or you may even be thinking, “will I even follow the plans?!”. I get it. My advice: simply start. There’s never a perfect time, a perfect way. Sure...my Instagram may look curated and neat, but so much work goes into that! Just imagine if I never would’ve started with one bad photo or one ugly planner spread (and trust me, there were ugly photos and spreads...just scroll down my feed 😅). You will find your rhythm, you will find the scriptures you want to study, you will find your way.
Next, I lightly decorated because I knew I wanted to write, write, and write. Again, I figured the rhythm would hit me come week 2 or on (spoiler alert, it did and I will share below 🤫). And then, I took it day by day. First I read (usually two different translations), wrote the entire verse or keywords if it was too long, and then I wrote my observation and application. Prayer requests were filled out on the left side.
BAM. So simple and such a breath of fresh air for my spirit. Here’s my first week below!
As I read daily, I highlighted the completed scripture on my monthly view. And I know there will be tears at the end of January when I go back and see everything I’ve read and meditated on. Truly, there is nothing more important to me than my relationship with God and these small highlights will signify something so very great.
If you are doing something similar, just imagine how it can be by 2020...how we could venture through most, if not all, of the Bible in a year! And by doing it through this method, oh, it’s so much more than venturing—it’s camping out, sipping coffee, and taking in the view. It’s what I want my time with my Father to look like for the rest of my life.
So as I prepped for week two, I decorated a bit more, using stickers that displayed the imagery going on inside my head. What I saw was my faith being rooted, watered, and beginning to bloom again.
These new little Journaling Doodles from Michaels are perfection for this season. Check it out!
AFTER THE PEN
And as we come to the end of this week, I am already seeing prayers answered, forgiveness getting a little bit easier for me (I’m Latina and it’s a little bit harder for us, okurrr! 😝), and Philip will tell you the change in my demeanor and the re-established joy in our home. So much of this is done with and because of my husband. We even took it a step further over the past two days and did some juice cleansing/fasting. Are you doing anything similar during this time? It has made all the difference mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually for me.
How’s it looking in your Faith Warrior or your new Happy Planners®️ this week, babes?! Comment below if you have any questions or to share! I want to see and hear about all the things!
